Good evening, my sickly serpents, and welcome to week 14 of our Into the Black Tides Tuesdays! The air is crisp and cool, and the snowfall has barricaded us into the offices here at Vindicated Entertainment. I’ve been surviving off of two-year-old hot chocolate, and some stale wafers that I found in our break room. Luckily I have the werecat to keep me company, or I’d probably go insane.
This week, we’re going to be talking about the world of pirates and horror - or as we like to call it - Transel! That’s right! We’re going to delve deeper into the gothic themed, monster infested, ever-darkened world that calls Otherworlds home.
Party in the Graveyard
As you’re already aware, Transel is home to many monstrosities that coexist somewhat peacefully. As peacefully as monsters can be, that is. With a few continents and a vast ocean that’s as black as its void of a sky, Transel isn’t exactly a prime vacation spot for most travelers in Otherworlds. But, it makes for one hell of a stop for adventurers looking to sink their teeth into some action. It’s especially gruesome when the twin moons that illuminate the sky turn blood red during an event called “The Blood Transcendence”. All of those monstrous oddities that you’ve grown so fond of out here in this wild west wasteland? Yeah, crazy stuff starts happening to them, like uncontrollable transformations and an appetite for destruction.
As if that isn’t bad enough, imagine finding yourself trapped at the “Edge of the World” that is Yedritch. This continent scrapes along the bottom of Transel and is practically consumed with darkness due to the tilt of the planet’s axis. You can pretty much guess what that means - this is pirate central, and the place to hangout if you’re looking to get into some trouble. Just make sure you bring some gold along, because gild has no use here. Some people just like to keep it old school, and the Blackwater Pirates that call this port home, have no qualms with reminding you who you’re dealing with.
If bloodthirsty creatures and marauding pirates aren’t really your thing, then I’ve got news for you. You’ve come to the wrong place. I mean, really, what were you thinking? A black sun, and moons that turn blood red? It’s pretty obvious. But, if you’re looking for something more exciting, you can always head on over to Hellsdeep. This mountain range deep in the south consists of some of the most jagged and bloodstained peaks this side of Transel. Within the heart of these treacherous mountains lies castle Bloodfell, Shadow’s Grace. Only those with steel nerves and lion hearts have braved the castle grounds, and haven’t lived to tell about it. But, that’s the way that mysteries go, I suppose. You’ll just have to travel there yourself and find out.
If castles are a little outdated for your tastes, may we suggest a nice tropical trip over to the Serpent Isles? This is said to be the home of the vicious assassins known as Yellow Blades. They’re the best in the business, and their ferocity is unmatched by all but their lust for gold. Hence, the name Yellow Blades. Anyways, if you’re planning on taking a cruise to the Serpent Isles, you better make sure you’ve got that nifty little serpent tattoo they’re sporting, or they just might kill you. Better yet, bring lots of gold and make sure they know you’re unarmed!
That seems to be all the time we have for this week’s Into the Black Tides Tuesdays! It’s rather fortunate considering we’ve got a lot of snow to continue shoveling before we break through to the sunlight outside. I’ve already got frostbite on my toes, so that means we’re making progress. Check back in next week for more Into the Black Tides content!
