Into The Black Tides Tuesdays: Phobias

Welcome, my creepy compadres, to another installment of Into the Black Tides Tuesdays. It’s only been a week since we last met, and we’ve missed you more than the Headless Horseman misses wearing hats!

This week, we’re going to be discussing Phobias – you know, that irrational chill that works its way down your spine any time you come across the number 4.

Phobia - Otherworlds Tabletop RPG - Into The Black The Black Tides

Phobia Pickapalooza!

It’s a tough thing to develop an irrational fear towards something – it’s even tougher to have to choose that fear yourself! With Into the Black Tides, you’ll be doing exactly that. But why stop there? With so many enticing choices, you can really push the limits of your sanity!

Don’t even think about trying to get away with the whole “man without fear” thing, though, because everyone is afraid of something.

Decidophobia

Staring down the barrel of a loaded flintlock, what do you do? Can’t decide? Is it the sheer terror of having a loaded weapon thrust in your face, or the overwhelming panic that comes from having to make a decision? After all, being a salty sea dog such as yourself, you’ve probably gotten used to having weapons up in your grill by now!

Most people get at least a little antsy when having to make a decision, but some people are absolutely terrified by it. That doesn’t exactly make for an excellent sea captain, but who said conquering the high seas was going to be easy? Sure, you’re at a disadvantage when it comes to deciding whether or not to throw that mutinous scallywag overboard, but that’s what your First Mate is for!

Phobia - Otherworlds - Into The Black Tides Tuesdays

Ornithophobia & Chromophobia

You’re the kind of person who knows that those feathery fiends that call the skies home are actually fowl creatures that love to terrorize people in their spare time. Seriously, have you seen that spiteful gleam in their eye as they swan dive towards your noggin? There’s a reason Hitchcock dedicated an entire film to them.

You’re also the kind of person that eats only the brown M&M’s, right? All of the bright colors that still remain in the bag are just too much to stomach. I guess it’s a good thing that horrific monstrosities don’t color coordinate very well, and as such, tend to stick to attire consisting of mostly black and grey.

Well, unless it's a Peacock that's giving you trouble. You’re on your own there.

Xaireaphobia

I know, I know, we all have a difficult time with saying goodbye, but we’re only six days and 23 hours away from another Into the Black Tides Tuesdays! We can even count the seconds together in the comfort of our own separate homes away from each other.

Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter so that you don’t miss out on any upcoming events or updates!

Until next time,

Vincent's Emerging From The Shadows

Hey everyone, thanks for reading! Vincent here, tagging along at the end of this blog post. I'm sorry, but there's not a phobia for that – yet. Anywho, I wanted to explain the importance of phobias and why they are being added in Into The Black Tides. Aside from the fact that it's hilarious having a character with the ability to fly and a fear of heights, it encourages good roleplaying and that's shown through our playtesting! We even will have a random phobia generator for those of you that have trouble (or perhaps even a fear of) making decisions!
